Carried on by the momen- tum of our initial move, we are about to take the next step. Suddenly, something within us falters: blind forces attract us beyond the wall; blind forces hold us in limbo, as though this one step, seemingly so simple, so like the previous ones, turns out to be laden with untold consequences ... definitive, involving our entire destiny, irrevocably. Some of us, looking for the exit, rush into the next step in the grip of a desperate rage. Others, all ties forsaken, slip into it with indifference. But most of us just remain, poised on the edge of the chasm, waiting for the impulse that will make us get it over with.
